Septa

In gas chromatography, a septum is a rubber or silicone seal used to close the injector port where the sample is introduced into the system. It allows for repeated injections without contaminating the injector or sample pathway. The septum is punctured by the syringe during each injection, and it ensures that the injector remains sealed and maintains the appropriate pressure inside the system. Septa are critical for maintaining the integrity of the chromatographic process and preventing contamination or leakage.
